CHICOPEE – Susan A. (Sabourin) Chagnon, 77, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, April 27, 2026. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. She was born in Holyoke on November 23, 1948, a beloved daughter of the late Harry A. and Alice M. (Pelletier) Sabourin. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School and had lived in Holyoke and South Hadley before returning to Chicopee. She furthered her education and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Health and Microbiology from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. She was employed as a Microbiologist and Environmental Analyst and had started her career at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. She later worked at Environmental Testing in Chicopee, Contest Laboratories in East Longmeadow and lastly at Spectrum Laboratories in Agawam. During her leisure time, she enjoyed watching Survivor & sci-fi shows, and spending time with her family and friends. She leaves her loving son and daughter in law, Jeffrey J. Chagnon and his wife, Jodina Chagnon of Palm Harbor, FL; her two dear brothers, Roy W. Sabourin and his wife, MaryJane, of South Hadley and Dennis J. Sabourin of Chicopee; and her many dear extended family members and friends. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Committal Service on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. There are no visiting hours. Her funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
