Obituary

Alfred J. Raso of Boston passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. He was 88 years old. Born in Boston, he was the cherished son of the late Salvatore and Annunziata (Condo) Raso.

Alfred was a veteran of the Coast Guard Reserves. Prior to his retirement, Alfred worked in the construction industry as a laborer with the Massachusetts Labor Union, Local 22. Devoted to his catholic faith, Alfred was a very active parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Boston’s West End. Alfred had a very outgoing personality and had many friends. His family was very important to him and he cherished all the many good times and memories he spent with them. He loved spending his winters in Florida with friends. He loved participating in horse racing; he did own a few horses. He was fond of all sports, particularly baseball. It was always a fun time being around him laughing and telling jokes and coming up with good stories. We will miss him dearly.

The last of his six siblings, Alfred was the dear brother of the late Vincent, Dominic and Reginaldo Raso, Angela MacCormack, Frances Musto and Eleanor Intravaia. Alfred was the beloved uncle of 26 nieces and nephews, 57 grand nieces and nephews and 34 great grand nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visiting hour in St. Joseph Church, 68 Cardinal O'Connell Way, Boston, MA, on Saturday, May 9, from 9:30-10:30 AM, followed by a funeral Mass beginning at 10:30AM. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
