Kathleen T. (Callahan) Levy, 89 of Salem, paced away peacefully at the John Bertram House in Salem on Thursday, April 23, 2026. She was the devoted wife of the late Paul M. Levy with whom she shared 17 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem she was the daughter of the late William C. and Catherine (Willett) Callahan, she attended St. Chretienne Academy, and was a graduate of St. Mary’s School as well as Salem Commercial School. Kathleen, began her career at the Essex County Registry of Deeds in Salem following her graduation. She retired, after many years, as Principal Clerk. She and Paul married in September of 1979 and enjoyed seventeen years of marriage until he passed away in 1996.
Kathleen was a friendly, outgoing woman who led a courageously vibrant life with Cerebral Palsy. She was recognized for her perseverance with many awards for her contributions to living a full life with disabilities, including a Presidential Citation for Meritorious Service, The Governor’s Award for overcoming handicaps, Hospice of the North Shore for her years of volunteer work and the Jewish Rehabilitation Center Recognition Award. She was also a devoted member of the Immaculate Conception Parish and later Ste. Anne Parish of Salem where she taught RCIA Classes. Kathleen was also an associate of the Sisters of St. Chretienne Associates.
Kathleen is survived by her brother, Robert D. Callahan and wife Janet of South Carolina and brothers and sisters-in law, Stanley Levy and wife Sandra, Judith Shulz and husband Gerald, nieces and nephews. She also leaves many devoted friends including Mary Warren. She was predeceased by her brother,
William C. Callahan.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, April 28th from 8:30 to 10:00 AM in the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial in Ste.
