
Judith Mary Brown, 66, of Westport,passed away peacefully at home onThursday, April 16, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Thomas E.Brown and Phyllis E. {Morin} Brown Fontaine, and step-daughter of the late Norman Fontaine.
Judy was born in Fall River and grew up in Westport. As a young adult she moved to Fall River where she lived independently with the assistance of Lifestream, Inc.. Due to her declining health, at the end of 2024 she moved back to Westport to a group home close to her sister Anne Marie.
Judy was a voracious reader, with a huge library. She read the Herald News, kept a daily journal, and enjoyed word find puzzles, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. She liked crocheting and listening to music, and was an avid Red Sox fan. She was also adept at American Sign Language..Her greatest joy was spending time with family, and especially enjoyed visits from her nieces and nephews and Stitch. Judy overcame many challenges in her life with acceptance and grace, and welcomed everyone she met with friendship and love.
Survivors include sisters, Anne Marie Gazdik and husband Michael of Westport, Patricia Brassard and husband Paul of South Portland, ME, Brother Thomas E. Brown and wife Lorraine of Galveston,TX, and step-brother Jay Fontaine and wife Elizabeth of Portsmouth, RI. She also leaves her beloved nieces and nephews, Michaela Gazdik-Stofer, Brian Gazdik, Allison Gazdik, Joshua Brassard, Erin Marenghi, and Rebecca Johnson.
Judy's family wishes to express their immense gratitude to everyone at Lifestream, past and present, who supported Judy throughout her life with compassion and friendship. She loved you all.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial and celebration of Judy's life on June 27, 2026 at White's of Westport, 66 State Rd., Westport, MA at 1:00 PM.
