Obituary

Emil Jacobson, 90, of Raymond, NH, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday April 12, 2026, after a brief illness. He was born in Morristown, NJ in 1935, to Swedish immigrants, Henry and Elin Jacobson, and always embraced his Scandinavian heritage.

He enlisted in the US Navy at 17, requiring his mother’s permission to do so, and served his country from 1953 to 1957.

He graduated from Philadelphia College of Bible (PCB) in 1961. While attending PCB, he spent several memorable summers on the maintenance crew at Deerfoot Lodge, a Christian boys' camp in Speculator, NY. A self-taught guitarist from a young age, Emil often shared his musical talent in the church, and taught several young men how to play, including his grandson, Liam, with whom he performed duets in his later years.

Emil met his sweetheart, Gladys, in 1962 at Calvary Evangelical Free Church in New Jersey. They were married for 58 years until her promotion to glory in 2022. Calvary, and the friends they made there, served as a foundation for their young family, as they actively attended and served there while raising their children. Upon his retirement from a 35-year career with New Jersey Bell, they moved to Raymond, NH, in 1995, where they enjoyed being near four of their seven grandchildren, and worshipping with them at Fellowship Bible Church in Chester.

He is survived by his three children, Lars Jacobson and his wife, Laurie; Inger Johnston and her husband Pete; and Katrina George and her husband Chris; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren (with one more due in July); and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Harold and Oscar Jacobson; his sisters Dora Randall, Agnes Christenson, and Ellen Engstrom; and his nieces, Evelyn and Linda.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
