Salvatore Giardina passed away at home in the company of his loving family on Monday, April 20th, 2026. He was 84. Salvatore was born and raised in Riesi, Sicily, the son of the late Giuseppe and Giuseppa Giardina.
He and his family came to the United States in 1972 and settled in Somerville. A hard working man, Salvatore went right to work to provide for his young family. He enjoyed a long career with Walbar, Inc. were he made component parts for airplanes. In his later years, he served in the physical plant department at the Chelsea Soldiers Home, until he retired. He was devoted to his wife, daughters and grandchildren. At home he looked forward to spending relaxing time with his family and cultivating a beautiful and bountiful garden.
The beloved husband of Maddalena (D'Anna) Giardina, he was a devoted father to Giuseppina DiSanto and her husband Cosmo, Santina Dost and her husband Dennis and Joanne Payne and her husband Danny. He was a loving grandfather to Benedetto DiSanto, Salvatore DiSanto, Samantha Platt, Nicole Dost and Danny Michael Payne, Jr. Salvatore was a dear brother to Giuseppina and the late Antonio, Calogero, Giuseppe and Giovanna. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Sunday, April 26 from 4 - 8 PM and again on Monday at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 AM in St Ann Church, 399 Medford St, Somerville. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum.
