BROWNFIELD – Robert Alfred Gagnon, fondly known as Bob, passed away quickly with his son by his side at Memorial Hospital in North Conway, NH on February 17, 2026, at the age of 85 from pneumonia.
Born on April 29, 1940 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, Bob was the eldest son of Alfred and Elizabeth (Vachon) Gagnon.
Bob attended Mount Carmel Catholic School and graduated from Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, Mass.
On April 27, 1963 Bob married the love of his life, Judy. They made their home in Lawrence where they raised their two children, Christopher and Debby, while Bob worked for over 40 years at Raytheon in Andover, Mass. as an inspector.
In the year 2000, Bob and Judy moved to Brownfield, Maine to retire and build a house next-door to their daughter and her family.
They became members of Calvary Bible Church where Bob was one of the 'Deacons of Relief' delivering food vouchers and other aid to people in need. He was kind, compassionate and happy to serve. Those who knew Bob couldn’t help but feel great affection for him.
Spending mornings with Judy in prayer and reading his Bible was an especially cherished time for Bob. After her passing, he was comforted by continuing these quiet mornings, keeping Judy always close at heart.
Predeceased by his parents and Judy, Bob is survived by his son Christopher, his daughter Debby Desroche and her husband Rene, and his grandchildren Hunter and Destiny Desroche, and by his sister Elaine Theberge, and his brothers Ken and John Gagnon, and a niece Jean, and nephews Eric and Kenny2.
There will be a service for Bob at Calvary Bible Church, 348 South Hiram Road, Hiram, Maine on June 13 at noon. People are welcome to stay after to chat, reminisce and help themselves to refreshments.
