We are gathered here today to honor and celebrate the life of a remarkable man, Louifaite Lucien Abellard.
Louifaite was born on October 9, 1940, in Croix-des-Bouquets, Haiti, to his late parents, Genevieve Abelard and Labbe Abellard. From humble beginnings, he grew into a man defined by strength, honesty, and deep love for his family.
In 1979, Louifaite migrated to the United States in search of opportunity and a better life for his loved ones. He was a hardworking man who took pride in everything he did. He worked as a mechanic and later as an Environmental Services Technician—roles that reflected his dedication, resilience, and commitment to providing for his family.
Louifaite loved to work, but even more than that, he loved to help people. He had a giving spirit and was always there when someone needed him.
One thing about Louifaite—he was never afraid to express his emotions. He told it like it was, whether you liked it or not. That honesty was part of what made him so real, so genuine, and so deeply respected by those who knew him.
He found his greatest joy in spending time with his grandchildren, staying connected to his roots by listening to news from back home, and talking with the people he loved. Family meant everything to him.
Louifaite leaves behind a legacy of love and strength. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Clairmonie Abellard, and his devoted children: Eliphete “Tou-Tou” Abellard of Boston, Marie “Nadine” Isande Bruny of Aruba, Woodson Inginac of Canada, Larissa Jackson of Boston, Steve Abellard of Brockton, and Valerie Abellard-Lewis of Brockton. He also leaves behind his cherished daughters-in-law, Stephanie Abellard and Jara Inginac Cius, and his son-in-law, Andrew Lewis.
He also leaves behind his loving siblings: Nicolas Abelard of Stoughton, Absalon “Fito” Abelard of Brockton, Emmanuel “Manno” Abelard of Milton, Abner Abelard of Arlington, Yvrose Pierre of Stoughton, and Michelle Berthelot of Florida. At the time of his passing, he was preceded in death by his sister, Georgette Emmanuel Abelard, and his brother, Rafael Abelard.
Louifaite was a proud and loving grandfather to 11 cherished grandchildren: Laetitia, Gerson, Jaliyah, Elijah, Sanaiya, Romero, Noah, Woodrow, Jacob, Liam, and Shalysse. He is also survived by many extended family members and dear friends who will continue to carry his memory in their hearts.
Today, we mourn his passing, but we also celebrate a life well lived—a life filled with hard work, honesty, love, and devotion to family.
Louifaite’s legacy will live on in the lessons he taught us: to work hard, to speak our truth, to love deeply, and to always stay connected to where we come from.
Though he is no longer with us physically, his spirit will remain in each of us—in our memories, in our laughter, and in the love we continue to share.
Rest in peace, Louifaite. You will forever be loved and never forgotten.
