Obituary

Ellen Anna Jones, 97, passed away on April 9th, 2026, peacefully in the presence of family, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and a richly lived life.

Born October 24th, 1928 in Floral Park New York to Ernest and Astra Hansen proud immigrants of Scandinavia she shared a fun-filled, hard-working early life living with her beloved brother Leroy “Whitey” Hansen. Growing up in the depression Ellen learned her greatest strength to be a independent woman who persevered and never complained. She found joy and hope in every challenge she took on. After graduating from Sewanhaka High School she moved to NYC where she was a Model for McGall’s Magazine.

It was in NYC where she was set up on a date by her brother with a young dashing Air Force Navigator named Clint Jones. It was love at first sight and the beginning of a true fairy tale.

Ellen and Clint shared an extraordinary 71-year marriage with a partnership marked by unwavering commitment, deep love and companionship, and countless cherished memories. They meant to each other what true love is.
Together, they built a life centered on family raising their three children David, Susan and Doug in Hingham, MA. They valued education, curiosity, and a shared passion for exploring the world. Their travels took them across continents, creating stories and experiences that became part of their family’s treasured history.

Proud of her Swedish heritage, Ellen embraced her cultural roots with joy, celebrating traditions, food, and family gatherings that kept her ancestry alive for generations. Her home was often filled with warmth, laughter, and the comforting presence of loved ones.

Ellen will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and the quiet grace with which she lived her life. She was the devoted Wife, Mother and Grandmother everyone wanted to have. She found her greatest joy in her family and took immense pride in watching it grow and flourish.

She is survived by her loving and adoring husband Clint Jones, her brother Leroy Hansen, of Potsdam, NY, their children Dave Jones of Moravia, New York , his wife Sandy, Susan Moore of Nashville, TN and her husband Bob, and Doug Jones of Duxbury, MA and his wife Kathy.

But most of all Ellen loved her 13 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her spirit, values, and love. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the family she nurtured so deeply.
Ellen’s life was a testament to enduring love, family devotion, and a curiosity for the world that never faded. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
