Obituary

HIRAM- Cynthia Pearline Douglass (Cyndi), 66, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, She was born on May 27, 1959, the firstborn of Jacquelyn Merrithew Foltz and George Sherwood Holmes.

She was predeceased by her beloved mother, Jacquelyn M Foltz; her father, George S. Holmes; and her siblings, George E. Holmes, Denise E. Amadon, and Scott A. Holmes.

She is survived by her sister, Jamie DeAngelis Doe (spouse, John Doe), with whom she shared a special and lasting bond.

Cyndi shared a beautiful life with her husband, Wayne Douglass, whose love for her was immeasurable. Together, they spent nearly 20 years side by side, building a life filled with care, laughter, and unwavering support.

She was a devoted mother to her only child, Wendy L. Fitzgerald, and a deeply cherished “Nannie” to her grandchildren: Nadiah Albasrawy (“Nadi”) and her significant other, Tyrell Brown; her great-grandson, TJ Brown; Jasmine Albasrawy (“Sunshine”) and her fiancé, Alex Brooks; Mya Ogden, Cassidy Ogden, and Jayden Fitzgerald (“Lil Man”). Each of them held a special place in her heart.

Cyndi also embraced her bonus daughter, Angela Kelly, and her husband, Sean Kelly, along with their children—Katelyn, Keagan, and Kamden Kelly—as part of her family, loving them as her own.

Cyndi spent many years working in security, including at Cumberland County Jail and in various capacity at Maine Medical Center, where she was known for her strength, dedication, and steady presence.

She shared a close and meaningful bond with her sister- in- laws Mary Holmes and Nancy Holmes and her special Aunt Judy, whom she loved dearly, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins who meant so much to her.

Cyndi found her greatest joy in simply being with the people she loved. Whether spending quiet time at home, sharing meals—going to yard sales, shopping, cooking, or passing down treasured family recipes (no-bake cookies). She had a gift for storytelling and loved sharing her life experiences with those around her. She also adored all of her fur babies, who brought her so much comfort and joy.

Cyndi, had a beautiful soul, full of personality, with sass and spice that made her unforgettable.

She is so loved. She is so incredibly missed.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A celebration of Cyndi’s life will be held on Sunday at 11:00 AM at the Portland Eagles. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to The Animal Refuge League.
