David Chris Igglehart 62, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died, Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, in Albany, Georgia.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Dave was born July 21, 1963, in San Leandro, California, to the late Robert Lee & Ruby Pittman Igglehart, but was raised by grandparents in West Memphis, Arkansas. He served his country honorably for 20 years in the United States Army, which included deployment in support of Desert Shield / Desert Storm. Dave was an airplane mechanic and worked on the Grumman OV-1 Mohawk and the Sikorsky UH-60 Blackhawk during his army career. He was stationed in Korea, Germany, Honduras, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Texas and Georgia. He was in Kuwait as a civilian contractor working on aircraft when 9/11 occurred. Dave loved working on planes and flying. After his services in the Army, he lived in Savannah, Georgia, where he worked for Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., for twenty years working on luxury corporate jets. In his free time, he enjoyed riding his four-wheeler, tractor and feeding wildlife.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Karen (Sue) Holley Igglehart of Fitzgerald; a daughter, Sara Ashley Igglehart of Addison, Texas, whom he loved with all his heart; a sister, Joni Igglehart Carr; a sister-in-law, Alesia & Jimmy Davis of Fitzgerald; many nieces and nephews, which include, Stacy & Clint Ruis and Whitney & Gabe Justice, and their children: Hunter Ruis, River Ruis, Taylor Justice and Landon Justice. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, his grand parents and his mother and father in-law.
