
GORHAM- Sandra J. Fowler Rankin, age 77, of Gorham, ME. passed away peacefully in her sleep to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 9th, 2026 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. She was surrounded by her three daughters.
Sandy was the oldest of three siblings, born to Elmer Fowler and Elizabeth J. Roma, on
August 13th, 1948 in Westbrook, ME. She went to Westbrook High School and graduated in
1966. There she created many fond memories, from performing in school plays to being
known for her flair of fashion. Her mother had taught her to sew at an early age, her talent
for sewing and her creative mind led her to make outfits for herself all the way to making
prom dresses for her girls. She advanced into quilting, and was able to use her talent to
create beautiful patterns and stories with her designs.
Sandy graduated nursing school in 1980 as an LPN, she loved and took so much pride in
being an excellent nurse, caring for people for 35 years. In 1982, when she was a school
nurse, started knitting hats and mittens for children in need. She continued her hat and
mitten ministry until she was 76 years old, passing them out and bringing them to schools
and shelters.
In her younger years, Sandy enjoyed days spent by the water with her girls, baseball games,
going to Beech Ridge and watching Nascar races. Above all else, Sandy loved God and her
family the most. Spending time with each of them, sharing her sense of humor and love for
all genres of music.
She is survived by her two brothers, Steven and Gary Fowler, her three daughters, Kelly, Kim
and Abby, her 10 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
There will be a celebration of life held at Dunegrass Golf Club, 65 Wild Dunes Way, Old
Orchard Beach, ME. on May 3rd, 2026 from 2pm-5pm
Burial will be held privately amongst her family at North Limington Cemetery
