Obituary

Marilyn Dippel, age 89, resident of Salem, NH for the past 5 years, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 8, 2026 at her home in Salem NH.

Born in Brooklyn, NY on August 11, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Robert F. Johnson and the late Martina (Roy) Johnson. Marilyn was raised in the Queens area of New York and attended local schools.

In her early years after high school, she worked for NY Telephone where she met her future husband, the late Richard Dippel.

They married in 1959 and after their two children were born, she settled with her young family in Copiague, Long Island, New York where she lived for many years until moving with her late husband Richard to Salem, NH in 2021 to be close to family.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished Nana, with a lifetime of loving friendships. She shared an extraordinary 66-year marriage with her beloved husband, Richard, filled with love, joy and commitment.

After her young children went off to school, she worked several part time jobs and eventually full-time work as a sales associate selling fine jewelry for Abraham & Straus Department Store. With her warm and caring personality, she excelled at sales making many friends and loyal customers. She retired after 20 years and spent her retirement years doting on her grandchildren, traveling, and golfing at the Cedar Beach Golf Course on Long Island.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, which brought her the deepest happiness. She was a proud and devoted “Nana,” and treasured every moment with her grandchildren, whether it was giving her signature back and head scratches, singing You Are My Sunshine, hosting sleepovers, and filling every room with laughter with her sense of humor and quick wit. She was their biggest supporter, enthusiastically cheering them on at every sporting event, award ceremony, and dance recital, celebrating each milestone with love and pride. Not only a Nana but truly a best friend.

In addition to her parents and husband Richard, she was preceded in death by her brothers Robert and Ronald,

Marilyn is survived by her son Gregg Dippel and wife Beth; daughter Colette Gencorelli and husband Joseph; grandchildren; Brittany Dippel and husband Dinesh Costlow, Ryan Dippel, Christine Schlegel and husband Keenan, Michelle LaBastie and husband Austin, and many friends including several from her last few years in NH.
