
CHICOPEE – Phyllis L. (Cieplik) McConaha, 78, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, April 9, 2026. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on February 9, 1948, a beloved daughter of the late Mieczyslaw Cieplik and Carole (Mardeuce) Cieplik. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School Class of 1974, and was a lifelong resident of the city. She furthered her education and received an Associate’s Degree from Springfield Technical Community College. She was last employed as a Bookkeeper for the Chicopee Housing Authority and had previously worked many years for the W.G. Fry/Kamket Paper Company in Holyoke and later in West Springfield. Phyllis enjoyed crafting, especially painting and scrapbooking. She loved cruising to Mexico with her family and was an avid photographer and member of the Springfield Photographic Society. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She leaves her loving and devoted son, Andrew P. “Drew” McConaha and his partner, Ashley Cormier, of Chicopee; and numerous friends and extended family members, including her amazing friends at Train for Life in Chicopee. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her dear sister, Laurie Zyndorski and her husband, Thomas. She can now run free Over the Rainbow Bridge with her best friends, Alfie and Rufus. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a Prayer Service at 11 a.m. at the St. Pierre - Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. (The parking lot is located in the rear of the Funeral Home). Her Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
