Obituary

Ivoni (Harizi) Reso, 87, of Worcester, MA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 7th in the Jewish Healthcare Center. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bardhyl Reso; her son, Indrit Reso and his wife, Eva; her daughter, Rezarta Reso and her partner John Holden; and her grandchildren: Kristel Tupja Barnett and her husband Joshua, Ada Reso, Michael Bard Reso, and Sarah Yvonne Reso. She was predeceased by her brother, Romeo Harizi and her parents, Kristaq and Gjenovefa (Leka) Harizi.
Ivoni was a woman of many talents and passions. Born and raised in Durres, Albania, the daughter of prominent attorney, she dedicated much of her life to education, inspiring countless students through her work as a teacher and her love of learning. She graduated from Tirana University in Biology and Geography sciences and worked as botanical science teacher in middle school . She was loved dearly by her students who cherished her passion and devotion of teaching and care for them.
Ivoni channeled her love for children also as a writer of so many children’s books.
She was also a respected member of the Albanian League of Artists and Writers, reflecting her lifelong dedication to literature and the arts.
A gifted author, Ivoni wrote several works of fiction for children which were awarded and praised as some of the best books in Albanian Children Literature. She was an author and coauthor of many educational textbooks as well, leaving behind a meaningful legacy that will continue to educate and inspire future generations.
Ivoni found joy in the simple and beautiful moments of life. She loved music and singing, and her voice and her guitar often brought warmth to those around her. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, and tending to her garden.

Her way of loving was inspired by Adriatic Sea. The very sea where she grew up by, the one she loved watching for hours from her balcony at the time when could she travel.
Above all, Ivoni cherished her family. Her grandkids became her joy and dedication by taking care of and raising them with such love and devotion. The time she spent with them was the most important part of her life, and her love, guidance, and presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Above all, Ivoni Reso was so much in her 87 years. A daughter, a sister, a wife , a mother, a teacher, a writer, a world traveler, an immigrant, a best friend, a two time breast cancer survivor and the most beautiful grandmother.
Ivoni was a member of the St Mary’s Albanian Orthodox Church where she found great peace and fulfillment.
Her visitation is Monday, April 13th in St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury Street from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. followed by her funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster Street. Please omit flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury Street, Worcester.
