Apricot Wilson McIntyre, 80, of Irwinville, Georgia, died Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, April 11, 2026, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with Paul McIntyre and the Rev. Dr. Jeff Pangle officiating. Interment will follow in Irwinville Cemetery, Irwinville, Georgia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. McIntyre was born February 9, 1946, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Woody Jackson Wilson, Jr. and Juliene Padgett Wilson. She was a 1965 graduate of Irwin County High School. Mrs. McIntyre was a homemaker and a beautician who did styling in people’s homes and at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home. She also worked as a substitute teacher for Ben Hill County Schools. Mrs. McIntyre was a seamstress and enjoyed crafting. Together with her husband, she owned and operated McIntyre Farms growing and selling fruits and vegetables beside their home. She was affectionately known as the “Strawberry Lady”. She was a member of Irwinville Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Paul & Amanda McIntyre; a daughter, April & Robby Dixon, all of Irwinville; grandchildren: Paulyna & Shaw Pilcher, Brady & Kayla McIntyre, and Gunner Douglas; great-granddaughters, Harlynn Nicole Pilcher, Memphis Grace Pilcher, and Haven Faye McIntyre; a sister, Jackie & Wendell Davis of Fitzgerald; two sisters-in-law, Glenda Wilson and Donna Wilson, all of Fitzgerald; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, C. Herman McIntyre; and two brothers: Woody J. Wilson, III and James N. Wilson.
Mrs. McIntyre's family wishes to acknowledge the compassionate care given to her by her sitters and the nurses and staff of Hospice Care Options.
