
Raymond B. Monfils, 92, formerly of Old County Road, Smithfield, died Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Village at Waterman Lake with his family by his side. He was the husband of the late Claire D. (Martineau) Monfils. They had been married for 55 years at the time of her death in December 2009.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Theodore and Nemea (L’Heureux) Monfils. He had lived in Smithfield since 1960. Raymond worked as a polisher for Monet in Pawtucket before retiring.
He is survived by his children: Ann M. Costa and her husband, Joe of Smithfield, Paul R. Monfils of Coventry and David M. Monfils of Smithfield, his three grandchildren: Eric Costa and his wife, Lisa, Kerri Walthers and her husband, Kevin and Dreue Monfils and his wife, Ana, his three great grandchildren: Charlotte, Audrey and Madeleine Walthers, and his siblings: Roland Monfils of North Providence, Richard Monfils of Warwick and Doris Jacquard of Harrisville. He was the brother of the late Armand Monfils.
His funeral will be held Friday, April 10, 2026 at 9:30am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Michael’s Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield. Visitation Friday morning, 8-9:30am.
