Luis Eduardo Garzon Lara, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on April 2, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on August 9, 1935, in the vibrant city of Quito, Ecuador, Luis was the cherished son of the late Julio Garzon and Ines Lara. From his parents, he inherited a legacy of warmth, kindness, and a profound appreciation for life that he carried with him throughout his years.
Luis was predeceased by his beloved wife, Blanca Ramirez, with whom he shared a deep and enduring love. Together, they created a beautiful family and a home filled with laughter, love, and countless cherished memories. His brothers Julio Lara and Nelson Bautista, who predeceased him, were also significant figures in his life, sharing bonds that transcended time.
A dedicated and skilled HVAC Engineer, Luis devoted most of his life to his craft, always approaching his work with integrity and passion. His commitment to excellence and his innovative spirit left a lasting impression on both his colleagues and the industry.
Luis's life was enriched by his many hobbies and interests. He found joy in listening to music, crafting intricate models, and delving into the wonders of geography. He had an insatiable curiosity about the world, which he delighted in sharing with others. His love for fútbol was matched only by his enthusiasm for socializing, engaging in lively conversations that often included a hearty laugh.
A man of simple pleasures, Luis had a notorious sweet tooth. His family recalls his fondness for sugar, whether it was stirred into his coffee, savored in candies, or indulged in sneaky spoonfuls. This love of sweetness mirrored his own nature—warm, comforting, and always bringing a smile.
Luis's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his three devoted children: Guadalupe Garzon, Maria Luisa Garzon, and Sonia Soto, who were the lights of his life. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Alvaro Roca, Jomira Roca, Kiara Garcia, Sabrina Soto, Betsy Garcia, Isabella Soto, and Dominica Lucin, and a doting great-grandfather to his namesake, Alvaro Roca. His siblings Daniel Bautista, Lupe Bautista, Bertha Bautista, and Mariana Bautista also remain to cherish his memory.
His presence was a constant source of love and laughter, and his absence leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy of love, humor, and wisdom will continue to inspire his family for generations to come.
