Obituary

Rimmler, Margaret of Scituate, March 26, 2026. Beloved wife of Patrick Haskell, devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away unexpectedly with her husband while vacationing in Kauai. Her loss is felt deeply by all who knew her, and her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled.

Margaret grew up in Newtown, Connecticut, surrounded by a close-knit community that shaped her generous spirit and lifelong friendships. She graduated from Newtown High School, where she formed bonds that remained meaningful throughout her life. She went on to attend the University of Connecticut, earning her bachelor’s degree before completing a master’s degree in business administration.

Margaret built an accomplished career holding senior leadership roles with several firms. Her work was highlighted by her time at Red Hat, where she served in an executive marketing position and was admired for her insight, dedication, and collaborative leadership. After many successful years in the corporate world, she retired and embraced a new chapter centered on giving back. She found great joy in volunteering at the Scituate Animal Shelter, where her compassion for animals shone brightly.

Margaret is survived by her parents, Doris and John Rimmler; her brother John and his wife Jackie; her sister Karen and her husband Mark, all of North Carolina; as well as three nieces and two nephews who adored their aunt. She was deeply loved by her family and friends, and her warmth, humor, and kindness will be profoundly missed.

Margaret’s life was defined by love—love for her family, her friends, her work, and the animals she cared for. Her memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Visitation will be at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, Needham, on Sunday, April 26, from 2 - 6 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Church, Needham, on Monday, April 27, at 11 a.m.

As Nantucket was a special place where PJ and Margaret met, got engaged and hoped to have a retirement spot, in lieu of flowers donations in memory of PJ and Margaret may be made to the Nantucket Conservation Foundation.
