Nancy E. Zwearcan, 80, of Hampstead, NH, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Nancy was born on October 20, 1945 in Haverhill, MA, to the late Glendon and Grace (Stevens) Emerson. She graduated from Pinkerton Academy in 1963. Soon after, she met the love of her life, Walter, and they were married in Westville, NH. Together, they built a life that took them to Connecticut and Berlin, NH, before settling in Hampstead, NH.
Nancy worked as a letter carrier out of the Atkinson, NH post office before later joining her husband in land surveying throughout the state. In 2008, they retired and spent their years enjoying cross-country road trips, tending to their extensive gardens (and canning their vegetables), and, most importantly, creating lasting memories with their family.
Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, and “Grammy,” who expressed her love through constant acts of care and service. She quietly showed up whenever someone needed her, always putting family first. Whether she was sharing homegrown vegetables from her garden, traveling near and far to cheer enthusiastically at her grandchildren’s events, or offering steady, loving support in everyday moments, she made each member of her family feel deeply cared for.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 61 years, Walter J. Zwearcan of Hampstead, NH; two daughters, Lisa Fox and her husband Nathan of Sandown, NH, and Karen Osborn and her husband Matthew of Derry, NH; one sister, Glenda Blomquist and her husband Bob of Virginia; one brother, Neil Emerson and his wife Sandy of Hampstead, NH; three grandchildren, Zachary Fox, Molly Viens, and Luke Osborn; two great-grandchildren, Adeline and Riley; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Nancy was predeceased by her sister, Barbara McGrath; her brother, Richard Emerson; and her brother-in-law, Bill Komenda.
Following cremation, a private graveside service will be held at a later date at Lakeview Cemetery in Hampstead, NH. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium are assisting the family with arrangements.
