Phyllis M. (Walsh) Carpenter-Michaud, 96, of Westport, peacefully passed away at home on Wednesday, March 24, 2026 with family by her side. She was the wife of the late George J. Carpenter and the late Normand Michaud.
Mrs. Carpenter-Michaud was born in Fall River, daughter of the late William and Martha (Coppinger) Walsh and had resided in Westport since 1963. A communicant of Divine Mercy Parish in Westport she attended both St. John the Baptist Church and Our Lady of Grace Church where she was also an active member of the Women's Guild. She shared her time as a Hospice volunteer. She was an avid painter, book reader and knitter. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her 3 sons: George J. Carpenter and his wife Kristine of Port Charlotte, FL and Monterey, TN, Paul Carpenter and his wife Marion of Westport and William C. Carpenter of Westport; her daughter: Cathy Gibson-Carvalho and her husband Tony of Westport; a sister: Margaret Hyland of Tiverton; 8 grandchildren: Heidi Lecomte, Philip Gibson, Elizabeth Carpenter-Higgins, George J. Carpenter, Amanda Carpenter, Adam Carpenter, Kelsey Anastasio and Kate Carpenter; 2 step-grandchildren: Margaret Luiz and Russell D. Luiz, Jr; 12 great grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late William Walsh, Edward Walsh and John Walsh and step-grandmother of the late Antone C. "T.J. Carvalho, Jr. and Randy C. Carvalho.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will Saturday, March 28, 2026 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Friday from 5-8 P.M.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
