Bill passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026 with his loving (dutiful) wife of almost 49 years by his side.
Bill was a man whose family always came first. He looked forward all year to his deer hunting trip - dreaming of the chance to go big game hunting. Bill was a candlepin bowler his whole life, an avid reader, he loved calling and playing bingo, and Burger King Whoppers with no mayonnaise. Nothing would have made him happier than if he could have lived every day in jeans and a tie-dye shirt.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Tia (Ramsey) Gaffney of Braintree. Devoted father of his daughters Christine Gaffney and her partner Rob of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; Dorothy Janelle and her husband Matt of Cape Coral, Florida; and Rebecca Crowley and her husband Kevin of Abington. Loving grandfather of John, Jason and Abby. Bill was predeceased by his brother Charlie Gaffney of Belmont and is also survived by Charlie’s wife, Joanne, of Weymouth. Dear brother of John Kenney and his wife Diane of York, Maine; Mary Cantwell of Braintree; Jane Hood and her husband Barry of West Chester, Ohio. He was predeceased by his siblings Ruth Ann (Kenney) Farrell, Francis Kenney and Timothy Kenney. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a wake on Saturday March 28 at St. Gregory’s Church at 2223 Dorchester Avenue in Dorchester at 9 am followed by a memorial Mass at 10 am. To honor Bill, we kindly ask that you come wearing your best tie-dye shirts.
