Carol Carmichael Chapman, 72, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Thursday, March 19, 2026, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Sunday, March 22, 2026, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla, with Tony Crosby officiating. Interment will follow in the Brushy Creek Cemetery, Irwin County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Ms. Chapman was born August 15, 1953, in Ocilla, Georgia, to the late John A. & Margaret Spell Carmichael. She graduated from Irwin County High School class of 1971. Ms. Chapman held numerous secretarial roles working for Farm Credit of Tifton, the former secretary to Sheriff Leonard Pope and CI International. She loved to bake and owned & operated her own baking business, Sweet Blessings. Ms. Chapman loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, coloring and being a caretaker to anyone in need. She was a faithful pastor’s wife, serving alongside her late husband, Elder Jimmy Marvin Chapman, in numerous churches throughout the area. She was a member of Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters: Lisa (Tony) Crosby and Sherry Chapman, a daughter-in-law, Tracey Cox, grandchildren: Nelson Cox (Carrie Shaughnessy), Austin (Sierra) Cox, Cameron Cox, Nicholas Crosby, and Natalie Crosby; great grandchildren: Jacey, Michael and Caroline; special cousins: Marilyn Richardson and Gwen Richardson, her fur baby, Lady Bella, as well as numerous extended family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elder Jimmy Chapman, a son, Michael Timothy Cox, a grand daughter, Julie Ann Cox and a great grandchild, Baby Cox.
