
Raymond R. Champagne, 81 died March 16, 2026 at his home following a brief illness.
He was born in Greenlay, PQ., Canada on February 28, 1945 the son of Philibert and Doris (Grenache) Champagne.
He was a long time employee of Anheuser Busch in Merrimack.
Raymond's passion was hockey. Once moving from Canada to Manchester NH., he began playing with the Alpine, Manchester Blackhawks and Manchester Monarchs, among others.
He is the all time leading scorer in Manchester senior hockey history, over nine seasons he led his team in scoring eight times.
He later coached, was a referee for high school and college games and ran a hockey school
He was inducted in the New Hampshire Hockey Hall of Fame in 2003.
Family members include his son, Robert M. Champagne of Manchester, two granddaughters, Rachell and Renee Champagne, sisters, Carol Champagne, Yvonne Champagne, one brother, Yvon Champagne. He also leaves his significant other Julie Tardiff.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 from 4 to 6 pm at J. N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St. A prayer service will take place at 5:30 pm during calling hours.
