Obituary

NORTH WATERBORO- Robert Provencher, 78, of North Waterboro died Sunday, March 16th, 2026, at Gosnell Hospice in Scarborough, just 5 days after a cancer diagnosis.
He attended Limerick schools, and the day after his 17th birthday, he left for basic training in the Army. After leaving Fort Dix, he went to Fort Rucker in Alabama, then to Fort Sam Houston. After being stationed in Germany, he returned home where he met Judy and married on March 23, 1968, until she passed away May 8th, 2025. They raised two children at their home on Spur Rd in Cornish. Bob worked as a woodsman in the 80’s, delivered oil for local oil companies in the 90’s and ended his employment hauling mail to Massachusetts for Kris-Way Trucking.

He enjoyed playing around in the yard with his tractors over the years. He had Ford, Yanmar, Cub Cadet, John Deere, and the latest a Kubota.

Surviving children and grandchildren include: daughter Lori Cressey and her husband Mark of Porter, Maine. Granddaughter Amanda Mudgett and husband Tyler. Great grandchildren Maverick and Gracelyn.
A son, Scott Provencher and wife Jennifer of Old Orchard Beach. Grandchildren Riley, Vivienne, and Brady (great grandchildren Jaxon and Hudson).

He was predeceased by his father Emile, mother Blanche (Cote) Provencher (who died when Bob was 8 years old), stepmother Beatrice Plette, brothers: Andre, Laurent, Gerald, Edward, and sister Jeannine, sister in-law Diane Glidden.

Survived by sisters: Cecile Lepage Collard (Richard), Claire Brown (Jack), Brother Leo Provencher (Jackie), Paul Provencher (Marion), stepbrothers: Andre Plette (Sandy), Denis Plette (Kim). Brothers-in-law Kenneth Woodbrey Jr (Beverly), Barry Woodbrey (Kathy), sister in-law Dottie.

Bobby, as most called him, loved his family and was happy that his daughter Lori took in his dog Abby when he was hospitalized. The passing of his best friend, Frank Sanborn Sr left a huge void. Then his wife of 57 years passed away last May and made it difficult for him to feel sustainable happiness, especially with the health issues piling up. He loved to tell jokes and used the few he had left to tell the staff at Maine Med. He would often say “laughter is the best medicine”.

His family would like to thank the team at Maine Medical and Gosnell Hospice House for taking care of him. He fought hard for four days but on day 5 he told his kids he was ready to go. He was cremated and his ashes will be added to a double urn with his wife. A burial will take place at a later date when a plot is selected. A Catholic funeral will be held on Friday, March 27th at 10am at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 19 Dora Lane, Limerick, ME 04048.
