Obituary

Mildred (Wilkinson) Towers, 83, of New Bedford died Friday September 6, 2002 at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph Towers,and daughter of the late John and Mary Jane (Lythgoe) Wilkinson.

A lifelong resident of New Bedford, she was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in New Bedford.

Mrs. Towers was formerly employed as a secretary at the Law Office of Prescott, Bullard & McLeod for 47 years.

Mrs. Towers was a graduate of New Bedford High School, Class of 1936. During her youth, she was an avid swimmer at the New Bedford Municipal Beach and the Young Women's Christian Association. She loved her family and friends and loved life. She also enjoyed caring for her home and garden.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Marilyn Saint-Aubin of East Freetown and Nancy Ann Shepard of Fayetteville, New York; 2 sons, John M. Towers of Ocoee, Florida, and William J. Towers of Rochester; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Grace Coe who passed away in December 2001.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordMonday September 9, 2002 at 10 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Julie Billiart Church, North Dartmouth, at 11 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Sunday September 8, 2002 from 5-8 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
