Jerry David Byard

Jerry David Byard, 86 of Anderson died peacefully at his home on March 6, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born October 7, 1939 in Anderson, the son of George and Olive (Higgins) Byard.
He served in the United States Army.
He was a graphic designer for 36.5 years before retiring in 2006, and worked at the Herald-Bulletin for 9 years.
Jerry was a faithful servant and attended South Meridian Church of God, where he contributed his musical talents to the men's quartet for many years. An avid photographer, he dedicated much of his time to capturing the stillness and glories of nature. Jerry was also deeply committed to his community which included his work as a DNR volunteer at Mounds State Park.
Jerry is survived by several cousins including Myrl (Joyce) Nisely, Velma Milliron, Neva Nisely and Jeannine Sandstrom; and many loving friends including "the Welch sisters", Julie, Lori and Jennifer.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Jeannine (Lenon) Byard, whom he married June 11, 1960.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2026 at South Meridian Church of God with Rev. Dale Landis officiating. Burial will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon until 1:00P.M. Saturday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to South Meridian Church of God Missions.
