Obituary

GULA, Barbara Ann of Dedham, born on May 13, 1935, to Edward and Ruth Gula, peacefully passed away on February 20, 2026. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Edward Gula Jr.

Throughout her life, Barbara worked for AT&T, traveling the country from one business to the next. She often proudly proclaimed she was among the first females to take on a sales role with the company, as well as among the last to earn a pension, milestones she carried with both pride and humor.

She spent her life traveling the world, embracing new cultures, and enjoying good food wherever she went. She was a lifelong learner and avid reader, and she cherished her time with her book group and her weekly bridge games with dear friends. Summers were happily spent at her cottage in Falmouth, walking the beach in search of sea glass. She was also an active member of Saint Mary’s Church, Rotary Club of Dedham, and other Dedham Town committees.

Barbara leaves behind her sister-in-law, Beverly Gula, as well as her beloved nieces and nephews: Edward Gula III (Valerie), Melinda Lamothe, Patricia Gardiner (Brian), and Timothy Gula (Jennifer). Her absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt by her family and her closest friends and companions Nancy Bloomfield , Barbara Laub, Judy Hatch, and lifetime neighbor Cynthia Forde.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday March 5 at St. Mary’s Church, Dedham at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Burial will immediately follow at Brookdale Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her parents.
