BRISTOL --- Susan “Sue” Linda Waring, 77, of Bear Mountain Road, passed away Tuesday evening, February 24, 2026, at home surrounded by her loved ones.
Sue was born on June 30, 1948, in Weymouth, MA, the daughter of the late John Lincoln Mott and Shirley (Kenerson) Mott. She grew up in Holbrook, MA.
Sue married Walter J. Waring in 1984. She was a Summa Cum laude graduate of Bridgewater State College where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in English studies. She was an avid reader and wrote several novels as a hobby. Sue was employed as an executive assistant for International Data Group, to Patrick McGovern Jr. In 2003, Sue and Walter both retired and took over the family business, Picture View Cottages. Families visiting the cottages over decades were so fond of Sue and Walter that they remained in contact with them for many years after they retired from running the business.
Sue cherished her garden of flowers and plants and the memories she made with family and friends. Sue and Walter enjoyed adventures on their boat the ‘Maiden America’ traveling the East Coast from Cape Cod to Nantucket. Sue loved sharing stories about traversing the country with family seeing iconic sites including from the Grand Canyon to Mt. Rushmore, the Wisconsin Dells and many more.
Sue loved her family the most. She and Walt loved spending time out on their porch talking, sharing memories, sipping coffee and enjoying lots of laughs with her best friends Sugar and Joanie as well as visitors and neighbors passing by.
Sue was a sharpshooter and manager of the Hopkinton/Framingham sportsman club. She was also an NRA instructor, taught hunter’s safety, advanced marksmen classes, and the National Guard pistol team. She was also the secretary for Hardy Snowmobiling Company, as she had enjoyed the winter thrills of snowmobiling.
As the wife of a Mason and past Master of the Lodge, Sue became involved in Eastern Star and earned all points of the star. She also devoted much time supporting her daughters who were Rainbow Girls. In recent years, she was very proud of one of her grandsons who became Master Councilor in the Demolay.
Susan is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Walter J. Waring; daughter Dr. Lynda Bolduc Poirier and her husband John Poirier; brother John “Jack” Mott and his wife Stephanie-Sue; sister Jacqueline “Jill” Mott; honorary sister Faith Pasternak; grandchildren Kevin Burke and his wife Robin, Shane Hicks, and Gavin Hicks; nieces Maryanne Mott, Vicky Mott Flynn; and nephew Keith Mott. Sue also leaves behind her beloved cat, Shadow and her ‘puppy’ Stash. In addition to her parents, Sue is predeceased by her daughter Stephanie Ann Bolduc Burke.
There will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be held in May with information to be provided at a later date.
