Mary Holdridge Foltz
May 20, 1940 – February 23, 2026
Mary Holdridge Foltz, 85, of Ledyard, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 23, 2026.
A lifelong resident of Ledyard, Mary was an active member of Ledyard Congregational Church. There, she surrounded herself with family and nurtured close friendships, celebrated births and marriages, and grieved for loved ones. In between, Mary volunteered on committees and made thousands of strawberry shortcakes.
Mary was a college graduate and dedicated nearly 30 years to running the Ledyard Center Nursery School. Generations of local children experienced their first classroom under her creativity and care, and Mary couldn’t go anywhere in Ledyard without encountering a former student.
Mary loved to bring people together. From themed gatherings and holiday traditions to family dinners that effortlessly turned into game nights, she believed life should be filled with fun and laughter. Through the Adventure Club, she stayed active and connected with friends who shared her enthusiasm.
She cherished her time at Fort Myers Beach, where she loved the sun and water, but her greatest joy came from her family. Mary delighted in showering her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with love, laughter, and just the right amount of silliness.
Her lifelong love, David, predeceased her just a few short months ago. Their story began with a sixth-grade coatroom kiss and grew into 63 years of marriage. Mary drew Dave into nearly every social event or party scheme she imagined, and he went along willingly, whether it meant donning a costume or hosting one more gathering. Together, they built a life rich with camping trips, travel adventures, poolside summers, and the quiet comfort of both growing up and growing old together.
Mary is survived by her children, Sandra Fedors (Terence), Stephen Foltz (Brenda), and Lisa Ann Curtis; her grandchildren, Jacob Fedors (Victoria), Erin Geer (Jacob), Allison Fedors, Ethan Foltz, Carly Curtis, and Ty Curtis; and her great-grandchildren, Shea and Henry Geer. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son-in-law Kevin Curtis and her grandchildren, Jenna and Garrett Foltz.
She’ll be remembered for her love of life and fun and laughter, and her dedication to her family and their traditions.
A celebration of life honoring both Mary and Dave will be held at a later date for family and friends.
