Obituary

Roger A. Francoeur, 90, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 with his loved ones by his side. He was the husband of the late Marie T.(Seminara) Francoeur, and the late Maureen A.(Henault) Francoeur. Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Armand and Beatrice (Savoie) Francoeur. He had lived in Smithfield, previously living in LIncoln Rl, Del Ray, and Pompano, Fl. He was a Class of 1953 graduate from LaSalle Academy, and Bryant University. He was a US Navy Veteran.

Roger was a Certified Public Accountant, having served as a Senior Appeals Officer with the I.R.S., retiring with over 30 years of service. He had also been a CPA Tax Consultant with Reilly Law Associates.

He was also an Adjunct Professor of Taxation in the Master of Taxation program, Bryant University. He had taught undergraduate accounting and taxes at several local colleges in the RI area. He was a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, RI Society of Certified Public Accountants, National Society of Accountants, Estate Planning Council of RI, URI tax Planning Council, National Council of Taxpayer Advocates, Aurora Civic Association, Bryant University Alumni Council, LaSalle Academy Board of Regents, and the St. Francis Directors Council. Along with Marie, he administered and taught Lambers CPA Review, a preparatory accounting course, for several years.

Roger was a seasoned cook. His children have fond memories of a house filled with the tantalizing aroma of homemade Italian tomato sauce on any given Sunday afternoon, and Christmastime would find him crafting labors of love, his French meat pies, in his kitchen, making several for appreciative friends and family. He had many of his own recipes as well.

He was an avid swimmer, and he often started his days either at the YMCA or at his Florida condo with an intensive workout, doing several laps in the pool. He also was a fan of New England teams the Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots.

Family and friends remember him as a kind and generous person, often helping people out when they were down. He had a positivity, charm, confidence and witty sense of humor that many found engaging. His warmth and energy will be greatly missed.

He leaves his children, Debra Bowler of Northford,CT,and Keith Francoeur of Smithfield, He was the father of the late Scott Francoeur. He was the grandfather of Chelsea Bowler and Zachary Bowler of CT, Delanna Francoeur of Smithfield,and Nasly O'Connor of Lincoln, and the great grandfather to Monte Bowler of CT, and Victoria O'Connor of Lincoln. He was the beloved father in law of Pilar Francoeur of Smithfield, Leo Bowler of CT, and Jaye Francoeur of Smithfield. He found a very strong heart and soul in his wonderful partner and companion of four years, Loretta Murphy of Pompano, Fl.

His funeral and burial will be private.
