
CHICOPEE - Mark E. Powers, 69, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, February 23, 2026. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on January 11, 1957, a beloved son of the late Robert C. and Roberta J. (Giroux) Powers. He was raised and educated in Springfield and moved to Chicopee in 1994 where he lived the remainder of his life. He was employed at the United States Post Office Bulk Mail Center on Fiberloid Street in Springfield and retired in 2023. Mark enjoyed walking around the neighborhood always wearing a hat which he had quite a collection of. He loved playing basketball and cheering on the Boston Celtics, New Orleans Saints, and the New York Mets. Most of all, he loved his many trips to Hampton Beach with his family. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Joyce A. (Grindle) Powers. They were married at Sacred Heart Church in Springfield on May 28, 1977 and were blessed with over 48 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving and devoted sons, Shawn M. Powers and his wife, Rachel, and Andrew J. Powers and his partner, Richard, all of Springfield; his three cherished grandchildren, Kaylee Powers, Mathew Craig, and Cameron Powers; his two brothers, Robert Powers and Scott Powers and his wife, Monica; his sister, Kathy Powers; and his extended family members and friends. He will truly be missed by his two faithful dogs, Baylee and Brandy. There are no visiting hours. His burial will be private at the convenience of the family. His funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107.
