DAYTON - Jean Mooers, age 87, passed away peacefully with family by her side on
February 21, 2026.
She was born in Hollis on March 2, 1938, a daughter of the late Donald and Sarah
(Tyler) Hanson. After graduating from Thornton Academy High School , Jean met the love
of her life, Roger Mooers, and together they raised 6 children and celebrated 63 wonderful
years together. Jean's love of people led her to work in the healthcare industry for many
years, until retirement.
She enjoyed many activities, such as sewing, arts and crafts, painting, camping, competing
in bowling leagues, snowmobiling, she loved dancing, and going to Bentley's saloon and
listening to Jose Duddy. She loved having family for holiday gatherings at their home in
Goodwins Mills and spent many summer weekends "at the river". She was also a dedicated
member of TOPS for many years.
Jean is predeceased by her husband, Roger Mooers, who she married in 1956; a son, Larry
Mooers; siblings- Gertrude Harmon, Nellie "Sis" Colello, Susan Spiller, Goodwin Hanson, Bart
Hanson, Anna Blake, and Donald Hanson.
Jean is survived by her children; Pamela Riche of Buxton, Mark and his wife Kimberly of
Lyman, Barry and his wife Donna of South Carolina, Scott Mooers and Crystal Hilton of
Lyman, and Jay and his wife, Linda of Saco; Sibling Ruth Jones of Waterboro, twelve
grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the South Buxton
Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow at the Waterboro Eagles.
