Obituary

Emily Silva, 74 of Lowell, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Northwood Nursing Home with her family by her side. She was the widow of the late Mario C. Silva with whom she shared 50 years of marriage before he passed away in 2024.

She was born and raised in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal and was a daughter of the late Manuel and Maria Sousa Brasil. As a teenager, she moved to the United States with her family, where she completed her education in Lowell.

Emily worked as a CNA at Northwood Nursing Home for many years until her retirement. Prior to that at she worked at Joanne Fabrics and in the local shoe factories.

Volunteering was important to her, she devoted time volunteering at Saint Anthony's Church, helping cook at the feasts and celebrations; and at the YMCA through St. Anthony’s Church, helping feed the local homeless. She was also a member of the Holy Ghost Society. She enjoyed staying active in the local community and loved all the friends she made over the years. Above all else, time spent with her family and her dogs brought her the most happiness.

Survivors include her son, Mario Silva, and his wife, Kimberly of Nashua; her beloved grandchildren, Halie Ryder-Silva, Mario Silva Jr., Corbin Silva, Christopher Silva, Samara Silva, and McKayla Silva; and her great-grandchildren: Ariah Silva, Emilia Silva, Anthony Torres Jr., and Kalani Silva.

She also leaves behind her siblings, Connie Tavares, Gilbert Brasil, Manuel Brasil, and Grace Leal and her husband, Luis; her brother in law, Victor Silva and his wife, Maria Gilda Silva; as well as many extended family members and dear friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her beloved son, Michael Silva; and her brothers, Joseph Brasil, and Al Brasil.
