Michelina Amato, age 98, passed away peacefully at home on February 18, 2026, surrounded by her beloved family.
A devoted wife to Vito and the proud mother of their four children Vincent, Maria, Michael and Paul, she built a life rooted in family, creativity, and the comforts of home. She was also a devoted grandmother who took great care of her grandchildren, loving them in the quiet, steady ways that leave a lasting mark. She especially cherished having family gathered around her table, where coffee and cake were always ready and conversation could linger for hours.
She had a lifelong love of sewing and took great pride in making things that were both useful and beautiful. She also enjoyed cooking and home improvement books and programs. If you visited her home one week and returned the next, you might find it rearranged, refreshed, or entirely reimagined which drove her husband crazy. Redecorating was not an occasional project for her—it was simply part of how she lived.
Her home was always clean, welcoming, and well cared for, reflecting the care she gave to those around her. And while her creativity and attention to detail will be deeply missed, few things will be remembered more fondly than her gravy, her meatballs and her amazing pizza recipe, which fed family, friends, and generations, and set a standard that may never be matched.
Michelina is lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the family she raised, the home she shaped, the things she made, and the memories she leaves behind. She is also lovingly remembered by her companion Barbara, whose care and friendship meant so much to her in her later years.
She is survived by her children - Vincent (Susan) Amato, Michael Amato, Paul (Tanya) Amato. Her 7 grandchildren - Michelle (Phil) DeBellis, Gina (Chet) Poliskey, Paul Cassarino Jr., Tony Amato (Stacey), Gia Amato, Kristen Amato (Ryan), Ashley (Mike) Amato-Giambrone and 6 great-grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents – Michele and Louisa Capizzi, her brothers - Salvatore Cappizi, Luigi Cappizi, Joseph Capizzi, her sisters - Mary Benvenuto and Madeline Sutera, her husband Vito Amato and daughter Maria (Robert) Cassarino.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church, 133 Beach Street, Revere Friday, February 27 at Noon. Followed by Interment services in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
