
MYSTIC: Judge Robert C. Leuba of Mystic, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away following a long and fulfilling life. Born October 24, 1932, in Providence RI to Wilfred and Madelaine Leuba. Bob was raised in Warwick RI. He graduated from Aldrich High School in 1950. Following high school, Bob joined the U.S. Air Force and spent two years in Libya, North Africa. He then attended the University of Rhode Island graduating with a BSc in Economics and went on to attend the University of Connecticut of Law. He graduated with honors in 1960. He practiced law with Brown, Jewett and Driscoll and went on to become a partner in Conway, Londregan and Leuba.
An interest in politics encouraged Bob to participate in local affairs. He served as mayor of Groton, became the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles and executive assistant to Governor Thomas Meskill. In 1986, Bob was appointed to the Superior Court. In time he became the chief court administrator of the judicial branch. He later took senior status until complete retirement in 2016.
Bob loved his home on the family farm, a property facing the Mystic River. He was an avid conservator of the land, raised and rode horses locally and in various countries around the world. He also loved boats. In his later years he enjoyed the company of friends, investigating the river and other local places.
Bob is survived by his wife, Hope, son John and daughter-in-law Laura, and his beloved granddaughter Catherine Marie.
Bob's family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, March 7, from 1 to 3pm at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic. Burial will be private for the family at a later date.
