Obituary

WORCESTER___Francisco Marrero, 67, of Worcester, passed away in the comfort of his home on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

Francisco leaves his wife of 40 years, Nurys (Nunez) Marrero, three sons, Jonathan Marrero and his partner, Cassy, Nathanael Marrero and Josue David Marrero and Carlitos, four grandchildren, Evan, Dereck, Jonathan, Jr., and Logan, his siblings, Teresa, Carmen and Luis and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Ana, Flores and Julia. Francisco was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico, a son of Flor Marrero and Elisa Medina and has lived in Worcester since 1982.

Mr. Marrero was a U.S. Army veteran serving with HHD 1st Battalion, Special Forces Group (Airborne). He continued serving with the Army Reserve after his discharge and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Mr. Marrero worked as a machine operator many years, including 8 years with C & C Manufacturing. Francisco spent several proud years working at Saint Gobain before enjoying a well earned retirement. A man of strong loyalties, he was a devoted fan of the San Francisco 49ers and WWE—two things he considered far superior to the New England Patriots, a team he insisted “did not count”. He was also a proud member of the low-rider car club “La Familia,” where chrome was polished, engines were loud, and stories somehow got louder over time.

At home, Francisco passed down more than wisdom—he taught his kids Spanish music, often adding his own “creative enhancements” to the lyrics, which the family still sings (and laughs about) today.
Above all, Francisco loved his family. Time with his grandsons was his greatest joy, especially during cookouts, friendly domino games (where he was known to “accidentally” win), and any gathering that brought everyone together.

When he wasn’t outside or with friends, you could find him enjoying his favorite old westerns—shows like Death Valley and Walker, Texas Ranger, where the good guys always won and the cowboy hats never seemed to fall off. Francisco’s humor, passions, and big-hearted presence will be deeply missed by everyone who loved him. His stories, his laughter, and his unmistakable spirit will live on in the many lives he touched.

The funeral will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday February 25, 2026 in Alfred Roy & Sons - Henry Funeral Service Memorial Chapel, 33 Ward Street.
