
Rev. Ed Reeves, 94, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Thursday, February 19, 2026, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Monday, February 23, 2026, at Waterloo Baptist Church in Irwin County, Georgia, with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Pangle officiating. Interment will follow in Big Creek Cemetery, in Irwin County, with the Rev. Ray Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 in the sanctuary of the church.
Rev. Reeves was born March 1, 1931, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Wyatt S. Reeves, Sr. and Edith Fowler Reeves. He was a graduate of Irwinville High School where he was a standout basketball player. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University where he attended on a basketball scholarship. He later earned a master’s degree from Georgia Southern University in physical education. He served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1955-1957. Following his service, he began his career and coached at Sylvester, Cuthbert, Moultrie, Hawkinsville, and Irwin Academy in Mystic. Following the death of his father, he returned home to farm in 1974. He answered the call to preach in 1976 and served Big Creek for 23 years followed by Double Run as interim pastor for five years. Upon his retirement, he joined Waterloo Baptist Church and filled in from time to time.
He is survived by a son, Jimmy Reeves & Sherry of Perry; a daughter, Debbie Sullivan & Victor of Perry; grandchildren: Matt Reeves & Stephanie and Brad Reeves & Becky; and great-grandchildren: Matthew Reeves, Johnathan Reeves, Walker Reeves and Merritt Reeves. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Romania Ingram Reeves; two brothers, Gene Reeves and Wyatt S. "Doc" Reeves, Jr.; and a sister, Mildred Fullen Lockwood.
