Daniel C. Carmichael, 86, of Natick, MA, peacefully passed away on January 31, 2026.
Born on December 14, 1939, in St. Ann's, Cape Breton, NS, Dan was the son of the late Captain Angus "Gussie" Carmichael and Katherine (MacDonald) Carmichael.
He is survived by sons, Alan and Mark, Natick, MA; loving niece Sheena, and sister-in-law Theresa Carmichael, of St. Catharines, ONT; special cousin Shirley MacDonald, North Sydney, NS, and many other Carmichael cousins. He will be fondly remembered by his Mancini nieces, nephews, and their families.
Dan was predeceased by his devoted wife of 48 years, Marlene (Mancini) and their beloved daughter, Michelle; dear brothers Murray, Waltham, MA, and Angus “Robbie”, St. Ann’s.
When young, Dan moved to Massachusetts, and joined the US Army Reserves. He later went to work with his Uncle Eric at Newall Flooring, learning the floor covering trade. Eventually, he started Carmichael Flooring, working independently until April of 2025.
Dan loved being on the water, so he soon purchased a boat, became a lifetime member of the Watertown Yacht Club, and forged many new friendships and happy memories while cruising around Boston Harbor.
The family sends heartfelt thanks to the folks that visited and supported Dan over the last several months, as he navigated through the waters of his final journey.
They will also be forever grateful for the care, compassion, and kindness shown to Dan by the dedicated staff and nurses of both Casa de Ramana Rehabilitation in Framingham, and Harborside Hospice, Haverhill, MA.
A private burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Natick, MA, will held at a later date.
RIP, dear Dan, you will be forever in our hearts.
