Carla Gerber-Weintraub
April 20, 1952 – January 31, 2026
(73 years old)
On January 31, 2026, Carla Gerber-Weintraub passed away peacefully from natural causes. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Lillian Gerber; and aunts and uncles, Doris and Francis Loschi, and Ronald and Joyce Zama. She was the devoted mother of Rebekah Weintraub, sister of Linda Gerber and cousin to Faye Zama and Bill Zama. Carla was the beloved partner of the late Roger Gordy, who loved her immensely, and whose artistic talent served as a bond between them. She was a second mother to Sarah Coletti, who selflessly cared for Carla in the last years of her life.
Carla was an intuitive spirit who had many talents. As a child she fell in love with music. She was a piano teacher and sang in various choirs throughout her life. Carla had a passion for jazz music and studied jazz piano with elite musicians in the Boston area. She guided her daughter down a similar path and enjoyed being an active participant in supporting Rebekah’s musical accomplishments.
Carla was a gourmet-level chef and baker. She enjoyed playing cards and gardening. She was an avid reader and spent time knitting for those in need. In her 60’s Carla went back to school to finish her undergraduate work and subsequently obtained her Master’s Degree in the field of Social Work, of which she was very proud.
Carla will be remembered for her unique and soul-filled laughter, her ability to immediately connect with others on a spiritual level, and the courage and bravery she demonstrated when protecting those she loved.
Carla would love for you to think of her as you listen to Ella Fitzgerald, live in Berlin in 1960, singing ”How High the Moon”
