Jose Angel Touset Torres, of Brighton, passed away peacefully at home on February 2, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.
Jose was born on June 28, 1951, in Peñuelas, Puerto Rico, to Salvador Touset and Arcelia Torres. He spent his childhood in Puerto Rico before setting out at the age of 18 for Chicago, and later Boston—a city he grew to love deeply and proudly called home, especially for its beloved Red Sox.
After moving to Boston, Jose met the love of his life, Margarita Alvarez, and together they built a beautiful family. Jose was a loving, strong-willed, and hardworking father who devoted himself to providing for and caring for those he loved. He shared his passion for baseball and wrestling with his children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.
The final years of Jose’s life brought new challenges and changes, met with patience, compassion, and unwavering love from his family.
Jose was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his life partner, Margarita Alvarez; his children Jose Angel Toucet Alvarez, Hector Luis Touset Alvarez (and his wife Carmen Touset), and Joannie Santiago (and her husband Richard Santiago). He also leaves behind his grandchildren Richard Alvarez Santiago (and his wife Kristiana Santiago), Joel Santiago, Joshua Santiago, Reinaldo Santiago, Jaida Nicole Alvarez, Jennifer Alvarez, and Brieanna Margarita Touset; as well as his great-grandchildren Amelia Santiago, Kaidan Alvarez, and Rome Jose Santiago.
Jose loved baseball, biking around the city, and creating things from odds and ends—believing that one man’s trash was truly another man’s treasure. He also loved settling in to watch old western movies, with his cat Simba by his side. He will be remembered for his warm smile, infectious laugh, and larger-than-life presence that filled every room he entered.
Jose’s legacy lives on through the family he loved fiercely and the countless lives he touched.
