“Smitty”
Dennis Wayne Smith, 75, of Worcester passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from service-related Parkinson’s Disease. A lifelong resident of Worcester County, Smitty served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After his service, he spent his career in various aspects of the automotive industry, retiring from Linder’s Automotive in 2023.
Smitty was predeceased by his parents, William H. and Constance M. Smith; brothers, Paul H. Smith, Sr. and Donald P. Smith. He is survived by his sister, Cheryl Godbout (Bruce) of Colorado Springs, CO,; nephews, Paul H. Smith, Jr. (Sarah Chipman) of Oxford, Thomas Gilchrest(Verna White) of Madison, ME, Keith Gilchrest (Jennifer) of Spencer ;Bruce Godbout (Shannon) of Castle Rock, CO and Alex Godbout (Kaitlin O'Dell) of West Palm Beach, FL; nieces, Kristen Torrealba (Gustavo) of Vero Beach, FL and Kimberly Smith(Shawn Romeo) of Worcester, and numerous great nieces and nephews. In addition, he leaves his very good friends and second family, Diane Russell of Worcester, Anthony Russell or Worcester, Jillian Russell of Worcester, Jenna Russell of Worcester and Julie Russell of New York.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA 01605. A calling hour will follow from 11:00 a.m- 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial in St. John's Cemetery will be private.
