Obituary

Farouk D. Baxter, a devoted husband, brother, uncle, and lifelong engineer, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025, after a life defined by curiosity and humor. Born on July 19, 1937 in Poona, India, Farouk pursued his passion for problem solving, earning a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India.

Farouk met his future wife, Margot Baxter (née Heise), aboard a ship sailing from Australia to the United Kingdom—a chance encounter that blossomed into a partnership marked by deep affection and shared adventure. After briefly working in London, Farouk immigrated to the United States, first settling in Michigan before making his home with Margot in the Boston area. Farouk spent the remainder of his career working for Yankee Atomic.

Farouk delighted in cracking jokes, tinkering with gadgets, and approaching life with a blend of practicality and playfulness that endeared him to everyone around him. His gentle presence and thoughtful nature made him a beloved figure within his family and friends.

He is survived by his sister, Pervin Davar (née Baxter), and his five nieces—Binaifer Davar, Rashne Green (née Davar), Tamina Davar, Soozan Baxter, and Trista Kogut (née Baxter)—as well as their children. The family carries cherished memories of his warmth, humor, and unwavering support.

Farouk was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margot, who passed on May 31, 2025. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the stories he told, the joy he sparked, and the enduring love he shared with those fortunate enough to know him.
