Maria Rios, born on February 7, 1934, in San Sebastián, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, in Boston, Massachusetts, where she built a life rooted in family, strength, and love.
Maria was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her beloved sons, Audeliz Rivera Rios, along with his wife, Zoa Y. Velez Vega of Arecibo, Puerto Rico, and Sandro Rios of Boston, Massachusetts.
She also leaves behind three cherished grandchildren: Emelinda Marrero, Audeliz Rivera Velez, and Linette M. Rivera Velez.
Maria was blessed with great-grandchildren who brought her immense pride and happiness: Brianna Marrero, Alina Marrero, David H. Gonzalez Rivera, Mario D. Gonzalez Rivera, and Micaela S. Gonzalez Rivera.
Though her presence will be deeply missed, Maria’s legacy lives on through the many generations.
Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing hours on Tuesday January 20, 2026 from 6-8 PM in the Joseph Russo Funeral Home, 814 American Legion Highway, Roslindale, MA. 02131. A funeral Service will be on Wednesday January 21, 2026 from 9-11 AM in the Joseph Russo Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, 355 Walk Hill Street, Mattapan, MA. 02126.
