Obituary

Margaret Ann (Ackley) McClure Deitz, aged 82, passed away peacefully at home, on Jan. 8, 2026, surrounded by her family. Margaret was born on May 8, 1943, in Chicopee, to the late Marshall S. Ackley and Cecile Y. (Plouf) Ackley. Margaret is predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Marshall H. Ackley and Virginia Scruggs: maternal grandparents, George A. Plouf and Anna Champagne. She is also predeceased by her husband, Normand L. McClure, who passed in 1984 and Harlan W. Deitz, who passed in 2015. She is also predeceased by her son, John D. McClure, who passed away suddenly, just 5 days before she died, on January 3, 2026, along with many aunts and uncles, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, a nephew, Scott Henry McClure and son-in-law, Eric Lucio. She was a graduate of Precious Blood High School in Holyoke in 1962. She worked at F. W. Sickles, Inc in Chicopee, before she married Normand in Oct, 1966. She went back to work after he passed. She worked at Caldor's, then Alan Ritchuy, Inc before she retired. She married her second husband, Harlan Deitz in 1990. She is survived by her youngest son, Steven L. McClure of Chicopee, two stepchildren, William Deitz (Paula) and Beth Lucio, both of AR; two step-grandchildren, Hayley and Hayden Deitz of AR and her sister Jeanne Robitaille of Chicopee; She is also survived by many brother and sister in laws and over 100 nieces and nephews, plus two best friends, Doris (Dugre) Desilets and Billie “Cathy” (Brown) Miller. She will be missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, Holyoke Hospice or you may plant a tree in her name. The family would like to thank the wonderful people at hospice who helped Margaret and her family during this difficult time. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
