Obituary

Alfred E. Dusey – a longtime resident of Andover, beloved husband of the late Ann Marie (Johansson) Dusey, and beloved father of Christine Louise Dusey (deceased), passed away peacefully at the Meadows at Edgewood in North Andover on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. He was 100 years old.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on March 1, 1925, he was the beloved son of the late Augustus and Albina (Toranko) Dusey. Raised in Roslindale, MA, Alfred was the youngest son (of 7 children).

Al graduated from Boston Trade school, and in 1943 and at the age of 18, enlisted in the Army Air Force where he served proudly during WWII as a top turret gunner on a B17 bomber in England. He earned numerous medals and was the last surviving member of the Mayhew Crew. He was proud to have been a part of the Army Air Force and later being involved as president of the Mass Chapter of the 8th Air Force Historical Society. Al attended many 8th Air Force yearly reunions taking him to many parts of the US as well as returning to Rattlesden England to visit the airfield and community to pay homage to those who did not return. Al was also a proud member of the American Legion Post 8 in Andover where he made and maintained many friendships over the years.

After WWII, he moved to Chicago to complete his education in electrical and television technologies. It was there he met his wife Ann Marie at a Swedish dance. Though he was not Swedish himself, he thought it would be a good idea to head into the dance, and so it was. For many years, Al worked as an electrical engineer and manager for Motorola in Schaumburg, IL, until returning to Massachusetts in 1977 to work for Automatic Radio and later Textron Inc. before retiring. He enjoyed golfing, and was a member of after work golf leagues during those working years. He also enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, and electronics… tinkering with many old radios and TV sets in the basement. Tho not one to retire completely, he became a tax examiner at the IRS after retiring from engineering. He also volunteered at the Andover senior center for many years to assist seniors with their taxes.

Al is survived, and will be deeply missed, by his loving children: daughter Diane and her husband Peter, grandchildren Lisa, Lara and husband Walter, and great grandchildren Kenna and Capri. Also, his daughter Anita and her husband Richard McHugh of Pepperell, MA, and grandchildren Michael and wife Molly, Daniel, Kayleigh and partner Eamon Horrigan. Al is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families who have been a wonderful light in his life, supporting him and attending his milestone birthday bashes.

Al will be greatly missed and left an imprint on all those who had the pleasure of meeting him.

Al's funeral service will be celebrated in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation will be held in the funeral home, prior to the service, from 9 to 11 AM. Interment will be privately held in the VA National Cemetery in Bourne.
