Frankie Gunn Smith, 90, of Wray, Georgia, died Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, January 10, 2026, at New Corinth Calvary Holiness Church in Ben Hill County, with the Rev. Jody Silvers and the Rev. Tim Mock officiating. Kayla Sellers will give the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with the Rev. Joey Dean officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Smith was born December 8, 1935, in Telfair County, Georgia, to the late Chess & Ola Mae Ivey Gunn. After graduating from Workmore High School in 1952, she married the following November and spent her life as a homemaker and farm wife, alongside her husband. She enjoyed her animals and flowers and was an accomplished seamstress who made beautiful quilts. She was a charter member of New Corinth Calvary Holiness Church where she served as church secretary for over 50 years.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra & Newton Sellers of Wray; daughters-in-law, Janice Smith of Wray and Terri Smith of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Ben Smith, Becki Ledbetter (Waylon Smith), Trevor & Christy Smith, Kayla Sellers, and Jonathan & Jennifer Smith; great-grandchildren: Ty & Haley Hollinger, Logan Smith, Alyssa Smith, Colton Smith, Brodie Smith, and Iva Grace Wilder; a sister, Chessie Mae “Smokey” Cooper of Florida; two sisters-in-law, Betty Sue Gunn and Pauline Spann; a brother-in-law, Tillman Carver; “bonus” grandchildren: Kara Eiland, Emma Morgan, and Ava Morgan; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, W.L. Smith; two sons: Fred Smith and Steve Smith; a granddaughter, Laci Smith; a grandson-in-law, Jason Ledbetter; and two brothers: Grady Gunn and Graham Gunn.
