ROSE WEISSHAAR
August 13, 1941 – January 3, 2026
Rose passed away very peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2026. Rose was the most amazing Wife, Mom, Sister and Grammy.
Rose was cherished by all and will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for family, friends and animals. She will also be remembered as the GREATEST example of a TRUE caregiver!
Rose was born on August 13, 1941, to Irene Lopez Macias and Juan Macias in Ventura, CA. Being a native Venturan was always a great source of pride for Rose. She was the “baby girl” of the family, having two older sisters and a younger brother. She attended Holy Cross School, spent one year at St. Catherine’s High School, and then moved on to Ventura High. Rose met the love of her life, Frederick William Weisshaar VI, while he was serving in the United States Marine Corps. They eloped when she was a Senior in High School and were married in Reno, NV (she always told her children & grandchildren if they eloped, they’d have to let her attend!). A few months later, their vows were renewed in the San Buenaventura Mission, a place where her Macias family was incredibly involved and the cascading generations to come, would celebrate many milestones.
Rose’s most cherished commitment was raising her family. She had 4 children by the age of 25. She believed strongly in her faith and in education and returned to school herself in 1969 to earn her High School Diploma. Shortly after her graduation, Rose joined the workforce. Her older children were horrified, routinely sending her “Non-Love” letters LoL! In spite of this, she was quite the force: an extraordinary example of strength, resilience and courage for her family.
Rose was dedicated to her children and lived a life full of compassion. She was involved in her children’s lives and was the Camp Fire Girls group leader for countless years, touching the lives of many girls throughout the years. She taught them business, outdoor and life skills while encouraging them to work hard in school. She was also active in her son’s Scout Troop. Grammy Rose absolutely adored all her grandchildren and had a unique and special relationship with each of them.
She also rescued cocker spaniels, adopting many over the years. Aside from the sentimental, she is also remembered as a fun-loving, wine-drinking, make -up wearing, purse collecting, shopaholic; her perm and nails were always done, her outfit and shoes always matching, her smile lighting up a room!
Rose retired from AT&T as a Maintenance Administrator and maintained a very close relationship with her good friends and carpool buddies Marsha, Jolene & Jill.
Rose is survived by her daughters, Debra Lawry and Kathy Weisshaar-Matthews; son Fred Weisshaar (Evelyn); brother, John Macias (Jeannie); grandchildren, Jonathan (Ona) and Jayson Snyder; Kristina Snyder-Kutzbach (Daniel); Erick, Michael, Zachary and Matthew Weisshaar; Dallas Rose Lawry-Gallagher (Patrick) and Kayla Matthews-Alvey (Dallas); great grandchildren Liam McPherson and Emma Snyder; numerous nephews and her “favorite” (only) niece.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Weisshaar; daughter Michelle Snyder; and sons in law Scott Lawry and Scott Matthews.
Dementia is a long-term disease with consequences only known to those close to it. Rose’s entire family wishes to extend their forever gratitude to the truly magnificent caregivers of Rowe Residence / Firelight Care Home. In particular, the family would like to thank Tina, Erin, Cici & Eric who made the remaining time Rose had on this earth dignified, fun, comfortable and meaningful.
Rose Macias Weisshaar’s Legacy will certainly live on!
