
CORNISH- David “Dave” Howard, age 78, joined the Lord on January 1,2026 at his home after a very long courageous battle with cancer.
He was born at North Conway Memorial Hospital in North Conway, NH on January 11,1947.
He is predeceased by his mother Janet Howard and father Buster, and sister Carol Eldridge.
After attending Kennett High School, David went on to proudly serve in the Vietnam War with the U.S. Navy.
During his time in the Navy, he met and married the love of his life - Joan Chase. Once returning from war he worked as a truck driver for G.W. Jewett for 28+ years.
He retired in 2011, but continued to work at the Cornish Market Bottle Redemption for 11 years.
David enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, watching the Races (and Ghosts), puttering around the yard, and spending time with his family.
David is survived by his beloved with of 58 years - Joan Howard; his two wonderful children; Rochelle Phillips and her husband Grant Phillips, and David Howard and his wife Michele Howard; sister Kathy Holt and husband Steve Holt; brother- Richard Howard brother - Steven Howard and wife Cathy Howard, brother- Steven Howard and life partner Linda; his six grandchildren that he loved dearly - Derek Smith and his wife Shantel Smith, Sydney “Syd” McLain and her wife Kamber McLain, Benjamin “Gorilla Grips” Thurlow and his wife Taniah Thurlow, Patricia “PJ” Thurlow, Mitchell “Mitchie” Thurlow, and Jillian “Ralph” Phillips; and four great grandchildren - Madyson Thurlow, Leighton Thurlow, Waylon Thurlow, and Remington Thurlow.
David was incredibly loved and appreciated by his community, friends, and most of all, his family.
He was a great man who will be missed by everyone who got the gift of meeting him.
May he rest in complete peace.
The family will be doing a private spring service at their home.
