Obituary

Elizabeth L. “Betty” (Stenner) Emmons, 91, of Chepachet, RI passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on December 24, 2025. She was the wife of the late Francis G. “Frank” Emmons. They had been married for 62 years.

Born in Hartford, CT she was the daughter of the late Gustav H. Stenner and Phoebe M. (Bergin) Locke. She was a US Navy veteran.

She lived in Chepachet for 37 years, having previously lived in Scituate for 23 years.

Betty loved her family. She enjoyed running the family antique shop, Country Cupboards, and antiquing in Brimfield, MA with her husband Frank and her daughter Sarah.

She is survived by her children, Jay S. Emmons of The Villages, FL, Mark J. Emmons of Maine, Susan E. Caldarone of Chepachet and Sarah L. Emmons of East Providence and her sisters, Phyllis Whitford of Sterling, CT and Nancy (Locke) Kimball of Michigan.

Her family includes 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Frances E. Emmons and her sister Dorothy Barnes and her granddaughter Angela Cady.

The Emmons family would like to thank HopeHealth Hospice for the care our mother received.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday January 3rd at 10am in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial with Military Honors will be in Acotes Hill Cemetery, Chepachet. Visitation will be held Saturday January 3rd from 9am to 10am.
